I am married to my high school sweetheart. We have two boys that keep us on our toes! Alex is 9 and Logan is almost 7. We also have 2 dogs; Tucker is an English Pointer that is 2 and Zoe is a Pug that is almost 13. My husband Brett and I grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to North Carolina 8 years ago. It was difficult to leave all of our friends and family; but looking back it was the best decision we made! Growing up I played softball, tennis and bowling. I love going to amusement parks with my family – I love the rides as much as my kids do!
What made you start CrossFit? How long have you done CrossFit?
I am still a newbie to CrossFit. I just started in October 2014. I had liked the gym that I was previously at; however, if I missed the one class per day that I liked then I wouldn’t exercise that day. I thought it was time to try something new and talked to a few CFA members about what CrossFit was all about. Everyone that I talked to about CrossFit would tell me that I would just love it. I made the decision to do the free trial, and am so happy I did!
What keeps you coming back to CrossFit?
The members and coaches at CFA are truly amazing! Everyone is so nice and encouraging. The coaches are wonderful and knowledgeable. What I love about the CFA coaches is that I can ask them question about what weight I should use and they are spot on with what I can do. They really get to know you and your abilities. The members are all so supportive of each other’s progress and accomplishments. I actually enjoy looking at the WODs for the day and seeing how everyone does. I love that I am getting stronger and doing things I never thought I would be able to do. I also love that my boys love coming to CrossFit with me! They absolutely love the CrossFit Kids classes.
Favorite CrossFit Movement: Clean and Jerk
Least Favorite CrossFit Movement: Burpee (blah!)
What are your CrossFit Goals?
My CrossFit goals are to do a pull up without the band and to be able to do a few Toes-To-Bar in a row.
Do you have any advice for someone new to CrossFit?
The hardest part will be walking through the door on the first day. I remember being so nervous! I’ve never used barbells before and never lifted heavy weights. While learning the movements, they can seem a little awkward at first. But after a few weeks it will feel like you have been doing them forever! Trust in your coaches to know what you are capable of doing.
Fun Facts about me:
Growing up, I had 11 years of perfect attendance at school. I missed some days in 1st grade due to the chicken pox.
I love bowling! My high score is 264 🙂
